JEA: Lower Our Utility Bills and Protect Our Health
It is time for JEA to reduce its emissions, improve air quality throughout the region, and find a sustainable long-term plan to reduce energy costs.
As a ratepayer, I ask the JEA Board of Directors and staff leadership to take the following actions to lower utility bills, reduce harmful emissions, and protect human health.
Incentivize and invest heavily in energy efficiency programs, especially for low-income households.
Prioritize cost-effective clean energy sources like solar over more expensive, polluting fossil fuel alternatives and stop using coal.
Develop plans to eventually phase out the use of fossil fuels.
By focusing on clean energy and efficiency, JEA could:
Save millions of dollars and lower bills.
Protect us from volatile fuel prices.
Stop producing dangerous pollution that harms our health and warms our planet.
Other utilities, states, and countries are proving that renewable energy sources, like solar, are cost-effective and reliable.
It is time for JEA to follow their lead to protect our health and keep money in our pockets so we can afford basic needs necessary for our quality life.
